Survey Instrument
The current Albarena instrument contains 45 required questions across five characteristics. Each characteristic has nine questions and each question maps to one maturity cell.
Question Types
The instrument uses:
- Likert questions on a six-point scale from strongly disagree to strongly agree.
- Single-choice questions when one answer best represents the condition.
- Multi-choice questions when several practices may exist at the same time.
All answer types are converted to a 0-1000 scoring scale before aggregation.

Instrument Governance
The baseline instrument should be treated as versioned assessment content. Organization-specific questions can be discussed later, but they should not silently change the maturity model unless the scoring logic is also versioned and documented.
