Assessment Tool
Learning Organization assessment tool
Use this tool to diagnose how an organization, division, subdivision, or respondent perspective is progressing toward a learning organization culture.
Learning Organization Assessment Tool
The Learning Organization tool is an assessment tool, not a generic survey builder and not a decision method. It uses a research-based maturity model to measure how far an organization has progressed toward a culture that creates, shares, applies, and improves knowledge.
Research Foundation
The assessment is based on published research about learning organization maturity in engineering and construction organizations. The model evaluates progress through:
- five learning organization characteristics
- three learning entities
- sequential maturity levels from Level 0 to Level 5
- a separate investment view that recognizes work completed in higher-level cells even when formal maturity is blocked by a lower-level gap
What The Tool Measures
The five characteristics are Leadership, Processes and Infrastructure, Communication and Collaboration, Education, and Culture.
The three learning entities are Individual, Community, and Organization. Together, these form the assessment cells used to calculate maturity and investment.
What Albarena Adds
The original diagnostic logic expected a single organizational survey. In Albarena, a study can collect many respondent surveys for the same model and combine them by scope:
- whole organization
- division
- nested subdivision or project
- individual respondent perspective when enabled
Each participant belongs to one division path. Parent divisions aggregate the participants below them, so a company can compare an overall result with local patterns.
Main Outputs
- Formal maturity level: the highest sequential level completed from Level 0 to Level 5.
- Investment score: the average strength across all maturity cells, including higher-level work that may not yet count toward formal maturity.
- Hierarchy views: organization, division, subdivision, and optional individual perspectives.
- AI advice: scoped interpretation that considers formal level, bottlenecks, investment, category strengths, weak cells, and parent-child comparisons.
Use And Limits
Use this tool for organizational learning, strategic planning, benchmarking, and improvement planning. Do not use individual results as employee performance evaluation. Individual advice is intentionally optional and is blocked for anonymous studies.
